Student Advisory Committee (SAC)

The SAC acts as a sounding board and liaison between the Experiential Learning department and co-op students. We listen to your suggestions and concerns and, when appropriate, advocate for change. We welcome all comments and suggestions from co-op students.

Our History

In 2000, 5 students approached Experiential Learning with some suggestions for the co-op system. We have now developed a strong and successful advisory committee. With the initial objective of improving certain aspects of the co-op process, we have expanded our role to participate in policy revisions, focus groups and lead new initiatives that are important to co-op students.
With members from various backgrounds and perspectives, we have evolved into a committee designed to work for the students and with the Experiential Learning department. We continue to move forward with this mandate, to ensure the co-op experience is the best it can be for all students.

Projects

SAC is always undertaking projects and looking for new initiatives in which to become involved. Here are some of our ongoing projects:

  • Each semester SAC members support COOP*1100 by participating on student panels and sharing information about their co-op experiences

  • Every March SAC hosts a Co-op alumni panel presentation with recent co-op grads sharing their advice on how to use the co-op experience in job search and career advancement
