Social Insurance Number
The Social Insurance Number (SIN) is a nine-digit number used to administer many government benefits. International students need to obtain a SIN in order to work in Canada.
There is no fee to apply for a SIN.
To apply for your SIN, gather all the required original proof of identity documents and take them to one of the following Service Canada points of service:
